What is your story telling you?

Last week we discussed, stuck emotional energy can negatively affect you, your health, and your life in many ways. This week we are going to discover ways to release stuck emotional energy.
Releasing stuck emotional energy begins by first making a conscious decision to heal it. This is the first step toward change.
The next step is starting to change the story you tell yourself about your circumstances. 
What is your story? 
The story you tell yourself each day is made up of your thoughts, feelings, and perceptions about yourself, others in your life, and life itself. All these things make up an energetic imprint that creates the circumstances you experience each day. The story you tell defines who you are and influences where you are going. This determines whether you are going to be successful or remain stuck where you are.
For example, if you constantly tell yourself you don’t have time for something, you won’t create space for it to happen. If you always feel like you never have enough money, you stay stuck in lack mode which blocks more money from flowing into your life. If you define yourself as someone who doesn’t like conflict, you’ll continue hiding your true feelings, which can keep you stuck in resentment energy.
No matter what you have experienced—whether your current story makes you feel anxious, angry, sad, ashamed, afraid, or overwhelmed—you can take control and write a new, happier story that aligns with the life you want to be living.
Rewriting your story and releasing your stuck emotional energy involves clearing and healing 3 interconnected core areas: mind, body, and spirit.
Is your mind filled with negative chatter? If you want to release stuck emotional energy, you need to change your mental focus from negative thoughts to positive ones. Actively use your thoughts to tell your new story of how you want to live your life.
You can do this by creating daily mantras or affirmations that foster a positive mindset. Say things like:
I AM Healthy, I AM Successful, I AM Beautiful, I AM Safe, I AM Peaceful
I AM Surrounded by Abundance in all its forms (which can include money, love, happiness, health, and wealth).
I DESERVE all that is good in my life and I AM ready to receive all that is good in my life.
When you change your mental focus from things you don’t want to things you do want, you open the doors for positive experiences to flow into your life.
Another way to help shift your mental focus is to get your thoughts down on paper and journal how you are feeling. Clear out the negative mind clutter by writing it all down, then switch your focus to what would make you happier. Make a list of the things you want to experience, achieve, and have this year.
Use meditation as a mental tool each day. You don’t need to be an expert; just start with a few minutes per day mediating and reciting your affirmations. In my empower your spirit monthly group event, we practice meditation techniques that make it simple and easy to apply in your own life. 
What you feed your body has a direct impact on how you feel. Are you drinking enough water?  Are you eating a balanced diet, or are you grabbing chips, chocolate treats, multiple cups of coffee per day, and eating on the go?

It’s important to get the right amount of sleep that your body needs. For some people 4 hours does the trick while others need at least 10 hours. You will feel rejuvenated and less irritable if you make sure you are getting the sleep you need.

Try incorporating some sort of physical activity in your day, such as yoga, running, going to the gym or going for a walk during your lunch hour. Start out with 30 minutes per day once or twice a week. 

Explore healing therapies such as massage or Reiki to help you release stuck emotional energy and tension from your body.


Your spirit is what lights a fire in your heart and gives your life meaning. Its natural state is peacefulness. You can increase your inner peace by acknowledging your emotions instead of bottling them up. 

To boost your spirit:

  • Start listening to what your spirit wants in your life and shift your focus away from what is missing.
  • Make a list of all the things you are grateful for in your life.
  • Make a list of 5 things that make you happy and put a smile on your face.
  • Incorporate yoga, mindfulness meditation, or Reiki into your life.

When you work on balancing and healing your 3 core spiritual areas, you’ll start to notice a shift in how you feel. Do these things and you will release the stuck emotional energy. Remember that this is a process, so be gentle with yourself along the way.

How do you know if you’ve released all of your emotions?

When you work through your emotions, you will have more patience, feel more balanced, and have more energy. You’ll feel less irritable, and physical pain will reduce or disappear. Releasing these emotions will balance your body so it can regain its optimal healing state. You will feel as if a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. You will feel lighter and ready to take on any challenge with a new positive mindset.
